A suspect, wanted in connection with two brazen armed robbery attempts in Morris County, was apprehended in the DFW area a day later.
The Richardson Police Department stopped Makhei N. Aguilar, 23, of Hughes Springs just after 11:45 a.m. June 15 and took him into custody without incident. Aguilar will remain there on local charges before he is later transferred back to Morris County.
At approximately 6:53 p.m. the day before, on June 14, Morris County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to an attempted robbery on County Road 2115 near Hughes Springs. The deputy was advised that a black male subject came to the residence demanding the owner’s vehicle. When the homeowner refused, the subject shot several rounds inside the residence.
Minutes later, at approximately 7:01, deputies received a 911 call to County Road 2102--a short distance from the first residence. The caller advised that a black male subject kicked in the front door and demanded the keys to a vehicle. During the second robbery attempt, a female victim was shot in the leg. She suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
Morris County deputies, along with the Texas Department of Public Safety State Troopers, the local Game Wardens’ Office and the Hughes Springs Police Department worked throughout the night and into the morning obtaining evidence related to this case.
